Secure Ballot Intake Stations

Secure ballot intake stations, commonly referred to as drop boxes, are a way for voters to securely return their Vote-by-Mail ballots upon completion. They’re typically located at early voting sites and additional authorized areas, and each station is staffed by trained election workers to ensure every ballot is kept safe and accounted for.

Your ballot must be sealed in the official return envelope and signed by the voter.

Please note: We can only accept Orange County Vote-by-Mail ballots at our Secure Ballot Intake Stations. Ballots issued by another Florida county or another state cannot be accepted.

Where Are Secure Ballot Intake Stations Located?

Secure Ballot Intake Stations are available outside every Early Voting location during Early Voting hours. Locations, dates, and times are listed on our Early Voting page.

You may also return your Vote-by-Mail ballot at the Orange County Supervisor of Elections Office, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. On Election Day, office hours extend from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Can I Drop Off My Ballot at My Election Day Polling Place?

No. Vote-by-Mail ballots cannot be dropped off at Election Day polling places. On Election Day, the only available Secure Ballot Intake Station is located at the Supervisor of Elections Office.

If you have not returned your Vote-by-Mail ballot, you may still vote in person during Early Voting or on Election Day.

How Do You Keep Secure Ballot Intake Stations Safe?

The security of every vote is our top priority. Secure Ballot Intake Stations are:

  • Located only at Early Voting sites and the SOE office
  • Available only during voting hours or when the SOE office is open
  • Continuously monitored and staffed by election workers

At the end of each day, all ballots are collected, sealed, and securely transported to the Elections Office. Empty intake stations are stored indoors overnight.

All returned Vote-by-Mail ballots must be sealed in the official return envelope and signed by the voter to be counted.
