In The Community

The Orange County Supervisor of Elections Office believes that democracy is strongest when our community is informed, engaged and connected. Our work extends far beyond Election Day. We’re out in the Orange County community year-round, sharing voting-related resources, building meaningful partnerships, and helping residents take part in the civic process.

Community Partnerships & Outreach

Our Public Affairs Team partners with schools, businesses, faith-based organizations, and community groups to make civic participation accessible for everyone. Whether it’s a voter registration drive, a classroom presentation, or an information table at your local event, our goal is to meet voters where they are.

We provide tailored educational programs for students, educators, and community leaders that help explain how elections work and why every vote matters. We also offer guided tours of our office, giving visitors a behind-the-scenes look at how secure, transparent elections are conducted in Orange County.

For organizations that hold their own elections, such as neighborhood associations, unions, or student councils, our office can even help administer those elections using official voting equipment and procedures.

Civic Advisory Council

The Civic Advisory Council is one of the most exciting ways we’re deepening our connection with the community. Established by Orange County Supervisor of Elections Karen Castor Dentel, the Civic Advisory Council brings together residents from across the county to share ideas, provide feedback, and help shape how we reach and serve voters.

The Council is made up of focus groups; each designed to connect with a specific part of our community and ensure that every voice is represented in our outreach efforts.

Current focus groups include:

High School Leaders Focus Group

Empowers high school students to learn about the elections process, promote voter registration among their peers, and serve as ambassadors for civic participation.

Young Adults Focus Group

Brings together residents ages 18–26 to advise on strategies for reaching and engaging young voters through education, events, and outreach.

Each group meets quarterly and works directly with our team to develop ideas, share feedback, and promote initiatives that make voting more accessible and meaningful for their peers. Future focus groups will continue expanding representation across Orange County’s diverse communities.

Through the Civic Advisory Council, we’re turning outreach into collaboration ensuring our programs are built with the community, not just for it.
